Academy Site Phase 2 - Sept 2023

The Phase 2 Academy building opened in September 2023 and has been built on the same site as the Phase 1 building.

December 2023: The front car park and drop off point. 

The new front car park and drop off point for parents/carers and visitors has been finished and we await handover ready to start using the front of the building! We think the new front section looks really impressive. 

November 2034: The final sections! 

The final two sections of the building are planned to be completed, this includes the Changing Rooms and the Theatre, Drama Studio, Dance Studio and Music rooms. 

October 2023: The next section of the building is open.

The Technology rooms and Care,Support and Guidance suite of rooms are now open and ready to use. We are looking forward to seeing students learning in these areas. 

September 2023: We are open! 

We have moved in and it is wonderful to see the academy fully of students enjoying the new facilities and settling into academy life. 

August 2023: We have been on site to see the progress of the building and get ready for the start of the new term. 

Furniture from our Phase 1 site has been moved into the new English, Humanities and ICT classrooms. 

July 2023: Work has continued to progress while students finish their last month of the academic year. 

June 2023: We visited site to see the progress in the specialist curriculum areas such as Science, Art, Technology and ICT. We also saw the installation of the new theatre floor and performance space. It is going to be a real privilege for students to perform in this space. 

May 2023: The academy building is looking stunning in the sunshine! The exterior is in place with Calvert colours and the new exterior entrances have been installed. 

March 2023: The exterior of the building is starting to emerge and students are enjoying seeing the development of the building as they pass it on their journey to and from the academy. 

January 2023: We visited the site to see the work taking place inside the building and see the construction in action. 

The classroom installations and specialist areas of the academy building are arriving for fitting and it is really exciting to see the internal layout on each floor of the building. 

December 2022: Students can view the new academy building from the Phase 1 building via the first floor window, here is their view! 

November 2022: The module sections of the building are lifted into place and the first part of the academy starts to take shape! 

September 2022: The steel frame for part of the building has been installed and the structure of the building is emerging.

August 2022: New signage has gone up around the site, we hope students will be excited to see the progress of the building when term starts in September.

March 2022: The first foundations have been installed! We cant wait to see the building starting to take shape.

December 2021: Work has begun on the site ground and preparing the site for works.

May 2021: The indicative plans for the Phase 2 building have been shared with us. We are really excited to see the planning coming to life.

April 2021 : We have been meeting with the architects to work on the internal layouts of the building on our specialist areas such as the drama studios, music rooms and technology rooms. These are going to be fantastic learning environments for our students to learn in.

March 2021 :  Construction work on the academy site is now beginning to clear the ground a secure the fencing. Planning permission has been granted and the site has been cleared in preparation for the building works to begin.

February 2021: The initial site plan has been finalised.

January 2021 : We begin working with the architects on the designs for the Phase 2 building.
